It’s not exactly an answer to your question, but when I read it, this idea popped-up in my mind.
If he likes sudoku, maybe he will also like other kinds of puzzles, especially a small crossword (doesn’t have to be anything big or difficult) which he can solve and let’s say read something like “I love you” (or anyhting else) in the middle, at the end of it, vertically, wherever It’s just an idea.

I don’t know about a message, but do you know that there’s a “Yahoo Group” you can join (probably more than one!) and get all kinds of free Sudoku puzzles? I belong, but haven’t used it lately……..
